The digitalization of heavy transport is advancing at an unstoppable pace, and artificial intelligence is emerging as its main ally. MAN Truck & Bus has integrated a digital AI assistant into its Perform fleet management service, capable of generating vehicle usage analyses up to three times faster than traditional methods. This tool not only speeds up processes but also transforms complex data into understandable and personalized reports, as reported by the specialized magazine Dirigital Transporte 3. This technological leap represents a paradigm shift: from the manual interpretation of data to obtaining immediate and actionable answers.
The Voice of Experience: AI as a personal assistant revolutionizing daily life.
The value of this innovation lies not only in the technology but also in its practical application. Karl-Maximilian Strobel, Head of Product Management Services at MAN Truck & Bus, explains it with a compelling analogy: “Imagine having a personal assistant that simplifies and revolutionizes your daily life, just as AI does when planning trips or online shopping.” In his opinion, cited in the press release, this is precisely the added value: an assistant that saves time and money, provides new ideas to the fleet manager, and frees them from tedious analysis tasks to focus on strategic decision-making.
Operation: From natural language to concrete recommendations in seconds.
The power of the tool is manifested in its conversational interface. Managers can ask questions in everyday language, such as “Which drivers have room for improvement?” or “What recommendations can I give to the drivers?” In response, the AI intelligently evaluates a vast amount of data—from driving style and fuel consumption to technical wear—cross-references it with an updated knowledge base, and returns clear assessments with concrete recommendations. This process, which previously required hours of work, is now completed in a matter of seconds.
The Digital Ecosystem: Perform and positive feedback with drivers. This assistant does not operate in a vacuum but is the logical evolution of Perform, one of MAN’s most popular digital services. The RIO platform, which underpins the service, provides the necessary real-time data to feed the AI. Furthermore, a virtuous cycle is created: the recommendations generated by the assistant for the manager can be transmitted directly to the drivers via the MAN Driver App, allowing them to check their ratings and improve their driving style autonomously, thus closing the loop of continuous improvement.
Implementation and Future: An innovation expanding across Europe. After its successful launch in Austria in the spring of 2025, this innovative functionality is already available for Perform customers in Germany and will be gradually implemented in other European countries. The planned expansion underscores MAN’s confidence in the product and signals an unstoppable trend in the sector: increasingly complex fleet management will find in artificial intelligence its indispensable partner for gaining efficiency, safety, and profitability.
